This boy was sweet, kind, and there was a connection between the two that led her to believe that they lived parallel lives until a turn of fate made their paths perpendicular. He was everything she hoped for, everything she didn’t think she’d ever really find in someone.

There was a girl who fell in love with a boy.

It was the kind of love that helped her get through the day with just a text. The kind of love that made her blush and the butterflies flutter in her stomach at just a daydream of his smile. The sound of his voice would thrill her and his slightest touch would send shivers up and down her spine. And his eyes, oh! How she loved to look into those pools of deep brown, and how they always made her nervous! They had countless conversations that brought the two closer and closer, spent time filled with moments she wanted to remember forever…and just like that, she fell deeper and deeper.

There was a girl who fell in love with a boy.

She gave him everything she could, wrapping her love and her every being around him. She loved him wholly, unconditionally, enough so that she was blind to the reality before her. He was distant, a bit reluctant, so eager to let things go and deem the two of them as friends. He barely came around, excluded her from his friends, kept her existence secret… But she didn’t care, she had him. He was all that she wanted and being with him a few times during the week was fine. As long as she was his, it didn’t matter. She loved him. Wholly. Unconditionally.

There was a girl who fell in love with a boy.

A year passed and there they were, still the same, the girl still excusing his intentions and neglecting her logic twice daily. They weren’t so bad..it wasn’t unbearable..the hurt she felt was easily ignored by what she believed to be his love. He’s just jaded, well-guarded.. Then she found out she was second-best, number two. There was another girl in his heart that didn’t know about her, that didn’t know about what they had…or rather, what she believed they had. She was heartbroken, hurt, she was in every kind of intangible pain ever thought of and her tears seared like fire against her cheeks and her cries burned through her heart and throat. This kind of betrayal and heartbreak was agonizing and drove her closer to madness. In that moment, she felt a hatred for him so deep and strong, it frightened her. In that moment, she felt she was going insane with an overwhelming sadness and anger. In that moment, she found out all the truths about his lies and all the things he were hiding. And in that moment, she realized that she still loved him. Truly. Madly. Deeply. Wholly. Unconditionally.

Weeks pass and here they are, the girl and the boy, engaged in a mud puddle of a fucked up love-triangle. Frustrating as it was, she just can’t seem to let go. Through it all, with all his mistakes and faults and wrongdoings, she still wants to be there for him. Still remains so understanding, still quietly psychoanalyzing all his actions. Putting his past and his present into consideration. Silently reminding herself that she knows him in more ways than the other would ever know. Knows him better than he knows himself. It was her gift and her curse, having such a deep understanding of people.

There was a girl who fell in love with a boy, and this is the story of her first love.

I stood in front of my bathroom sink, staring into the mirror for the longest time before I reached for the hairstyling scissors in my make-up bag. Though it’s not much of a change, I trimmed my growing bangs, ridding myself of the curtain of hair that covered my eyes when let down. It seems like this is a habit of mine..no. Not habit. It’s more like a way of dealing with the current situations in my life that plummet me into an emotional state.. I always change my appearance (or at least, attempt to) whenever I’m in a weird emotional stump. Tattoos, piercings..though hair is the best (and oftentimes cheapest) way of expressing my inner sentimental self. Think of every one of my physical altercation as a changing color of a mood ring.

Yup, that’s me. Hannah Renee Joan d’Arc Song, the chameleon of the human condition.

Monday was the birthday of “your favorite producer’s favorite producer”, J-Dilla.
Went to Little Temple and rocked out to classic (and ingenious) J-Dilla tunes.

RHETTMATIC! played such a dope set.

My friend Brad (who came with Acrlick’s DJ Wrex to shoot/blog about the night) and I switched cameras at one point and went on shooting.

He says one thing, she writes another, I’m here trying to figure out which one’s the liar.

Lately my dreams have been forcing me to wake up around 9 a.m. Insaaaaaaaaaaaaaaane lucid dreaming seems to occur for me during that last hour of sleep, and let me tell you, it’s not always pleasant. It’s currently 11:30 a.m. and I think I’m about ready to start my day. Surprisingly I have a day off from both jobs, so here’s a list of things that I have to tackle today:

1. Clean my room.
–Honestly, it’s not as bad as it looked in my therapeutic cleaning post. However, the little cluttered messes are kind of driving me a bit insane.

2. Deposit rent money into my account.
–Pretty much self-explanatory, is it not?

3. Photoshoot with Olivia.
–Yes, yes. I’m back at it with my camera. Directed photography isn’t really my cup of tea but it’s always fun to break away from the things I usually/normally do.

And I think that’s it. I’m probably not going to clean my room though.

Anyway, so I was looking over my old Formspring account and wow. My friends and I sure did know how to put ourselves on blast! I’m so glad that my mind-state isn’t where it was at a year ago. And, after much consideration, I’ve decided to reactivate it again! Although I’m sure I’m going to get a whirlwind of…interesting questions (and maybe a few trolling attempts here and there) but I’m definitely gonna get a kick out of it.

Guess who I interviewed as of late! Although this was an interview conducted through e-mail, it was fun coming up with the questions for my recent “interrogation” of Nocando. You guys remember who this man is, right? 2007′s Scribble Jam champion, Project Blowdian, super witty battle rapper and the resident host of The Airliner’s weekly Wednesday night event, Low End Theory. Due to conflicting schedules, I was unable to have a sit-down with him and had to choose my least favorite way of interviewing: e-mail (hence the generalized questions and brief answers). Nevertheless, I thank you very much, Nocando, for taking the time to answer these following questions!

It’s been a while since the last interview I’ve conducted with you…first off, how do you like Oakland? How long has it been since you’ve moved there?
– I’ve been in Oakland for about a year and a half. But I fly down to L.A. weekly so it’s like I never left.

What’s the music scene like out in Oakland, or up in the Bay area in general?
– From what I’ve seen it’s vibrant and diverse. Kinda like the L.A. scene just a little less loud with more funk.

As a Los Angeles native who’s now moved to a different city, do you feel that living in Oakland has changed your perspective on things regarding your music or the underground scene?
– My perspective has changed but I don’t know if it has been moving up here or touring really. I just realized that the world is so big and that there are a lot of different scenes in different cities. Moving up here has helped me focus on musicality and sound more than style.

How much has changed since the last time I’ve interrogated you in May 2009 (wow, it’s nearly about to be a year)?
– Well, where do I start, I got married last spring, I’ve released my 1st full length record Jimmy the Lock and an EP with DJ Nobody. I’ve toured the states 4 times, Australia, and Asia. I also have a lower credit score and a few new scars.

You’ve been doing a lot of shows, going on different tours…what’s life on the road like?
– The road is great, all that travel makes it easy to write. The part that sucks is missing my wife and kids which also makes it easier to write because I long to be with them.

As busy as you are, can we be anticipating a new album release of yours soon?
– Yeah this year I will be releasing a mixtape called ‘Catch Me If You Can’, my group project with Busdriver ‘FlashBang Grenada’, and my full length record tentatively titled ‘Tits and Explosions’ (whew say that 5 times fast).

Speaking of being busy, you’re flying back and forth every week for Low End Theory…how’s Low End Theory going, by the way? I haven’t been in a while but with dubstep and glitch growing the way it has been this past year…Wednesdays must be exciting for you!
– I’m so excited about it every week. Low End has been super successful and growing to all of our surprise because of innovations in music and technology by some of the most creative young minds I’ve ever been around.

And Low End Theory made its San Francisco debut on the 21st…can you shed some light on that matter for me please?
– Low End SF was great! It was sold out, 2000 plus people packed in that bitch. Its 3 days later and my ears are still ringing.

Mind if I ask who was part of the lineup for the San Francisco debut?
– Yeah the line up was all residents Daddy Kev, DJ Nobody, The Gaslamp Killer, DJ D -Styles and myself plus 2 guest. Daedelus and Baths. That shit was amazing for real.

Last, but not least, when can I shoot you?!?!
– Lets set a date for photos in the Bay or L.A. we’ll make that happen for sure.

So, in case you guys don’t know where BANANaS! is held, here’s a little Los Angeles underground hip hop history lesson for you. 4343 Leimert Park is home of the KAOS Network (founded by Ben Caldwell), where Aceyalone and Abstract Rude founded the infamous Project Blowed. Project Blowed was modeled after The Good Life Cafe, and has been home to Nocando, Dumbfoundead, Sahtyre, and many other Los Angeles underground rappers.

VerBS and Alpha MC are also from Project Blowed, hence why VerBS chose the KAOS Network to house the monthly BANANaS!.

Now, back to the update.

Inside the venue, there was a stand that sold vegan goodies! Got me super excited.

I have to say, the performances were pretty interesting. There was this duo that messed around with live drumming + vocals and a dj set. Total glitch influence. Then there was Professor Calculus, super crazy-on-the-ears-in-such-a-small-space guitar rifts and rock. Intuition and VerBS did an impromptu performance during their set, which was pretty dope.

After a while, Yeselyn and I couldn’t take the heat (and the craziness) that was going on inside and just chilled outside. Chopped it up with a few people, ran into old friends. I had a great time, and I’m pretty sure Yeselyn did too, as overwhelmed as she was.

Honestly, the last time I’ve chilled in this area was…when Sahtyre had his album release. That was two years ago. Wow. Hannah Song, you’ve really been sleeping. Glad I’m finally awake now.

Anyway, we both ended the night early, stopping by In-N-Out for some grub and drove all the way home bumping electro and dancing in the car.
